The AS-Motor AS 1040 YAK 4WD combines the traction and low centre of gravity of the Sherpa platform with a heavy duty 100cm flail deck. It is designed for contractors, councils and property managers dealing with tall vegetation, rough ground, scrub and slopes where a conventional ride on deck is not suitable.
A 627cc Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V Twin produces 21.1hp rated power and up to 23hp maximum output. Permanent four wheel drive uses a hydrostatic rear transmission with limited slip differential and a hydraulically driven front axle. Travel speed is continuously variable up to 6.8km/h forward and 6.3km/h in reverse.
The surfing flail deck carries 56 Y flails and adjusts through seven cutting heights from 30mm to 110mm. It can handle vegetation up to approximately 150cm and spreads the shredded material evenly across the full 100cm working width. The deck can also move upwards over uneven ground to reduce impact on the rotor and flails.
